Teachings - February 2007

1st Feb 2007

Dear Friend,

When we have recently celebrated the Birthday of Jesus Christ, our Saviour, it seems right that we pause to see how much impact His life and teachings have made on our lives; and it is my hope that we can be helped to do so by reflecting on some of the many 'teachings' which Our Lord has given to me in prayer. It seems a long time since I published Volume Five of His teachings; and since then He has continued to teach me; but I have only been able to make brief notes, as I have had other books to print, at His request, and other work to do - though with great practical help from other people. This is why I now offer a selection of some of His teachings of the past year. Indeed, the Lord has asked me to share them. I hope there will be another selection available in the near future.

There is nothing new in these teachings. They are reminders from Christ of what His Church already teaches us, in a time when it can be especially difficult to remain faithful. I have included the teaching numbers, in case anyone cares to refer to these in the future, when they might be published in further collections. It will enable people to find an accompanying illustration later on, from the Lord, as well. He has given me teachings and images on all sorts of subjects; so I have grouped them in five sections, each section being arranged chronologically. They are: Everyday Life, Special Problems, Clergy and Catechists, Mission, and Christ and the Saints.

May the Lord open our eyes and our hearts even wider to His tremendous love, and help us to remain faithful.

EVERYDAY LIFE

The Lord taught me:

T:6781, 17.2.06
"I want you all to realise that I deeply sympathise with you in your sufferings.  Life on earth can be so difficult that it's like living in an earthquake zone.  People around you are in difficulties, and you have your own sufferings to bear.  This is why I ask you all to help one another, to be generous with your goods, and also to share the 'living water' of truth and love.  Help one another to cultivate the virtues; and turn to Me for help, stating your needs with simplicity and trust.  I can give you wonderful gifts, and also help you to persevere to the end." (Illustrated)

T:6789, 20.2.06
"If you want to tell the whole world about the powerful help I give you through My sacramental Presence in the Holy Eucharist, tell them through your painting!  A picture can powerfully remind people that I am Really Present in each Catholic church, ready to welcome and console all who come to visit Me." (Related illustration is 5909)

T:6793, 24.3.06
"Persevere with your work for children.  Many do not know that I am Present with you all during the Mass - and afterwards.  This is why many fail to act with reverence in church and fail to genuflect, and why some have no idea why they should go to Mass.  Their behaviour will change, if they learn that I, your God, am with you, and that the church is the ante-chamber to Heaven.  Finish your writing, to tell them the truth about the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass: that it's as if the page of history is turned back, at Mass.  Truly, you become present to My once-for-all-Sacrifice of the Cross; and I pour out upon you the graces I won long ago by My love and obedience."  (See prayer-card: 'Attendance at Mass')

T:6802, 28.2.06
"Accept in humility the fact that you must all struggle throughout your lives to conquer your weaknesses.  I want you to realise anew the importance of regular Confession, even if you are not aware of having committed mortal sin.  I give wonderful graces in the sacrament of Penance, to help you to fight against sin and become holy."

T:6811, 4.3.06
"Remember that Sunday is a special day, for you to celebrate My Resurrection - and also to rest, if that is possible.  If a lot of work awaits you, try to put it aside, so that you can enjoy some rest and refreshment, as well as prayer, at Mass as well as at home."

T:6818, 7.3.06
"Someone who wants guidance about new directions and possibilities for his life can use this simple image to focus carefully on his activities.  I would say to him: Picture your life as stretching away from you, like a tunnel, in which your responsibilities and hobbies are floating around like objects, half-concealing the Person awaiting you at the end of the tunnel, which represents Myself, waiting to greet you when you die.  Will you resemble Me in charity; or will you realise that you have mistreated other people made in My likeness, in order to fulfil your own ambitions?  How much better if you all think about your future death, while there is still time to change." (Illustrated)

T:6831, 14.3.06 (2nd part)
"Conversion is achieved by the Holy Spirit, working in different ways in different people.  I want you all to believe that there is no situation so helpless that I cannot work in it, by the Spirit's power, to produce amazing results.  As I touch and illumine different hearts and minds, I reveal My patience as well as My power, generosity and wisdom; and I invite everyone to respond to My love." (Illustrated)

T:6833, 16.3.06
"No-one should be afraid if he has failed in virtue, and has repented.  The story I once told about the son who went away and spent all his inheritance represents the truth about the Father's love.  Your Heavenly Father loves everyone; yet He looks with particular tenderness and joy upon the humble heart of each person who makes an act of contrition, whether for a little weakness or a grave sin." (Illustrated)

T:6883, 3.4.06
"It is important that each of you persevere in prayer.  When you make the sign of the Cross, and pray to the Father in My name, in the power of the Holy Spirit, it's as if you are moving through the 'narrow gate' onto the 'hard road' I described in the Gospels, making your way upwards to Heaven.  Unless a person prays, he does not ask the Father to forgive him, he does not ask for Baptism, or offer praise and thanks.   A person who fails to pray does not ask for courage and perseverance as he approaches his life's end.  Prayer is essential for all who want to grow in holiness and in the knowledge of God." (Illustrated)

T:6902, 12.4.06
"The Sacred Liturgy is really 'sacred'.  It is like a river of praise that pours from the whole Church towards the Father, in Eternity; and your loving intention to praise Him, through Me, in the power of the Spirit, goes into that 'river', is carried to Heaven, and does indeed give glory to the Father." (Illustrated)

T:6942, 2.5.06
"Whenever you pray in My name to the Father you pray not from your weakness but from My strength, in the Spirit's love.  I Myself am praying for your good intentions, so you should pray in confidence and joy.  How can the Father fail to respond to My prayer, whether with one sort of help or another?" (Illustrated)

T:6953, 11.5.06
"Never give up hope of helping others through your intercessions, even bringing help to those who have turned away from Me.  When you pray in My name to the Father it's as if a stream of petitions pours upwards to Heaven, from which there is poured out, upon the needy, a stream of golden graces.  In that 'Light' from Heaven, the needy are able to think more clearly, to see more clearly the state of their own souls and their lives; and so they are given a further opportunity to be reconciled with God the Father rather than to remain in their pitiable state.  Truly, every sincere prayer is worthwhile." (Illustrated)

T:6959, 13.5.06
"It is important that you share the truth that the world will one day come to an end, and that Judgement will follow.  Few Christian books today mention the 'Four Last Things': Death, Judgement, Heaven and Hell.  It is important that you all reflect upon these things, and perhaps be helped to alter your behaviour.  Those who are truly striving to live as good human beings should feel no fear about being judged.  It is because of My infinite love for you all that I am going to judge you: not to frighten needlessly, but to make plain My mercy and justice.  There will be reward and punishment; yet there will also be answers to various questions about life which have puzzled many of you during your time on earth." (Illustrated)

SPECIAL PROBLEMS

The Lord taught me:

T:6758, 9.2.06
"It thrills Me when you are grateful for the help I give you in Holy Communion.  Truly, you receive not bread, but Myself, your God and Saviour, under the appearance of bread.  Yet how many children making their first Communion know this?  How many of their parents are faithful to the teachings of the Church?  How many children will be encouraged, in later years, to avoid worldly attitudes and activities, and whatever endangers their present purity of body and soul?" (Illustrated)

T:6761, 10.2.06
"Whoever hopes to pray well needs to give up his sins.  If he does not even try to change, yet feels ashamed, he will feel uncomfortable in prayer and will probably give up praying.  Bishops everywhere should speak up courageously asking you all to abandon your sins and to be reconciled.  Catholics who are unwilling to conform their lives to the teachings of the Church lead a sort of 'half-life' - even if they act from ignorance - when compared with the life of spiritual joy and glory that can become habitual for those who have surrendered to My Will being done in their lives." (Illustrated)

T:6774, 16.2.06
"People who are trapped in sin and who are generally unhappy can be pictured as prisoners, surrounded by high walls.  Some of them, utterly enslaved by a particular vice, are like people confined to an inner yard where they can only walk in one direction, and are unable to cultivate normal work and friendships.  All of these people need 'outside help' to be released; and it is given by Me, as soon as people freely express to Me the firm desire to be set free." (Illustrated)

T:6850, 22.3.06, Part 1
"Parents have a special obligation to train and teach their children.  Since Moses received the Commandments, it has been quite plain that good people should appreciate their families and fulfil their obligations towards family members.  It is disgraceful that some children are not welcomed but are destroyed in the womb.  Furthermore, children deserve not just a welcome but also the knowledge of who their parents are, and their ancestors.  These are some of the reasons why I cannot look with delight upon some other practises also seen today which many well-intentioned people see as admirable.  It is not My Will that people create human life in a laboratory, or create 'spare embryos', or encourage egg and sperm 'donation', or undertake IVF procedures, or surrogate pregnancies, or related matters. I can see that some people alive today will be honoured by the Church as martyrs, in future years: people who have suffered horribly in resisting abortion of their babies, or opposing other anti-life policies and practices." (Illustrated)

T:6850, 22.3.06, Part 2
"Keep sharing the truth about sin and sanctity.  I ask each of you to realise the truth about your choices.  Each thing you do, think or say, in earthly life - or neglect to do - either sanctifies you or draws you away from Me. Let everyone know that there are eternal consequences to their actions." (Illustrated)

T:6860, 26.3.06 Part 2
"No-one need imagine that babies who have died are 'lost'.  Those who have been aborted, or were victims of miscarriage, and were unbaptised, are 'safe and sound' with Me.  They are asleep in My love.  There is no need for concern about their present state and happiness." (Illustrated)

T:6896, 9.4.06 Part 2
"One of the faults that most frequently stops people from finding peace in My love is the habit of complaining.  It's as if they imagine I cannot hear them, as they grumble.  I want to make them ready for Heaven by the very things they refuse to accept, as they complain about the moral teachings of the Church, the sufferings of everyday life, the need for sincere, humble prayer, the care of their families, and the conscientious work that needs doing.  For as long as they 'hide' from Me, refusing to do My Will, they are, in practice, like the unbelievers or those who have not yet heard of Me.  They are not walking across the 'bridge' to Heaven, which is Myself, your Saviour Who died for you." (Illustrated)

T:6898, 11.4.06
"There is another serious fault that many need to conquer.  I ask you all to beware of condemning other people simply because of their racial origin.  To speak with contempt of other races is to make yourselves like those of My contemporaries who used to say with disgust: "Oh! Those Galileans!" " (Illustrated)

T:6943, 3.5.06
"You are right to work and pray to relieve the sufferings of the poor and needy, in your own country and elsewhere.  Yet a vast amount of pain could be relieved in an instant were those who govern each country to act for the welfare of their people rather than for their own power, comfort and privilege.  They should cease their corrupt practices." (Illustrated)

CLERGY AND CATECHISTS

The Lord taught me:

T:6812, 6.3.06, Part 1.
"Picture a little village, of five hundred years ago, with a church at its centre.  I want everyone to know that the Catholic Faith preached today is the very same Faith as that preached and lived centuries ago.  There are sociological changes in the world, and various types of development; yet then and now, the Pope and the Bishops have taught the truth about the Holy Trinity and Mankind, and about salvation through Myself and the sacraments.  People long ago knew about the service and praise of God, and the need to care for their families, and the poor.  They knew about the shortness of life, the destiny to which I call you, and the help you can receive from My Mother Mary and the other Saints, and the holy Angels.  Many brave Missionaries have gladly shared this Good News.  And now, whoever says the Faith has changed is mistaken. Minor changes in discipline, customs, and attitudes have occurred; and My Church has the authority to make such changes; yet she has not changed, and cannot change, matters of faith or morals." (Illustrated)

T:6812, 6.3.06, Part 2.
"It remains true that by your own decisions, you are all making your way towards Heaven - even if by way of Purgatory - or towards Hell.  Some people today claim to be right to oppose the moral teachings of the Church and to 'follow their conscience'.  But anyone who kills the innocent or opts for sexual immorality of any kind with what is called a 'clear conscience' has an erroneous conscience.  I understand that people do not always make wise decisions, in difficulties, and are often swayed by emotion; yet the teachings of the Church are true; and many of the Saints have shown that, by relying on My graces, people can follow what is right, and avoid wrong-doing." (Illustrated)

T:6872, 31.3.06
"My priests and Bishops are like so many 'other Christs' scattered across the world, to offer sacrifice, and also to teach, and to rebuke error and sin.  I invite each one, as he approaches death, to make a good Confession, with the following things in mind: How close has been his resemblance to Me?  Has he fought against error as well as promoting what is good?  If priests suffer, in illness and old age, I invite them to 'offer up' their sufferings in union with Myself, for the good of souls, and the Church, knowing as they do so that few are asked to die as I died, in agony, in public, humiliated and mocked by My enemies." (Illustrated)

T:6878B, 3.4.06
"I see that many of the Clergy are worried about 'driving people away' by truthful preaching about sexual immorality - particularly contraception.  It is a mortal sin, objectively speaking, though many Catholics are left ignorant of that truth.  It is rarely spoken about today, even by those involved in teaching, preaching, or marriage preparation, or the instruction of 'converts'.  Yet I ask you to imagine the state of the Church if nearly every husband had a mistress, and nearly every wife a lover, and this were widely-known, but the Clergy were afraid to speak against adultery in case it 'drove people away.'  It is precisely the task of the Church to call people to repentance; and that is what is needed, on the subject of contraception."

T:6887, 6.4.06
"In the Sacred Liturgy, I Myself am praying for you all.  The Liturgy is My prayer, from amongst you; so I ask you to celebrate it with as much beauty and reverence as possible.  You show Me great honour when you make the 'house of God' beautiful by your reverent approach, your elegant furnishings, your beautiful art work, and lovely melodies.  You can picture this loving attention as 'making up' to Me for the poor welcome I once received on earth." (Illustrated)

T:6896, 9.4.06
"Many people are profoundly ignorant of the meaning of a 'good life'.  They need help, because a person without Divine help is like a helicopter pilot flying in the dark with only a small spotlight to guide him, whereas a 'child of God' is like someone in daylight who can see clearly on both sides; and he can also see the far horizon, which is Heaven.  Very few Catholics, however, have a real understanding of their salvation history.  Very few realise what I have done for you all.  It is important that you keep sharing the good news that I, your God, came down from Heaven to earth, to save you. It is the single most important thing for people to know.  I came down to you.  I love you.  I have spoken to you; and if you are wise you will all listen and act." (Illustrated)

T:6955, 11.5.06
"It gives Me joy to see souls filled with a burning desire to spread the Good News about My Incarnation, and about the forgiveness and peace I have brought through My saving Work - and all the graces which I offer through My Church.  Yet I am particularly concerned about My priests and Bishops.  I see all the good they do, in difficult circumstances; yet how many of them still wake up each day, burning with the desire to share the Good News, and still thinking of new ways of sharing it?" (Illustrated)

MISSION

The Lord taught me:

T:6743, 3.2.06
"Persevere in trying to share the truth about Me, to people of different beliefs - but in appropriate ways, and with respect.  Christians should show by their charity what Christianity is 'like'.  It is the duty of all who follow Me to love all people, to forgive those who hurt them, to pray for their enemies, and to do good to them.  People, seeing this, will be able to look clearly at the differences between religions as well as noting some similarities."

T:6846, 21.3.06
"Those of you who are baptised can be sure that a real change has been brought about by Baptism.  Your prayers, as adopted children of God, are certainly heard and answered, because of your union with Me.  It is not a question of merely having nice 'feelings' about being heard.  Yet people not baptised deserve to hear that I love each of them with an infinitely-tender love.  I invite each one, however, to step forward to receive Baptism - through which each can have a special relationship with Me. Each will therefore have greater knowledge of the Father and His wishes, greater confidence in prayer and in everyday life, in the power of the Holy Spirit, and greater security through being an heir to Heaven.  Yet Baptism brings responsibilities, as well as gifts.  Christians must work to save their souls, by My grace, to help others in their sanctification, to build up the Church, to help their families and the poor and needy, and so on - just as I teach you, through My Church." (Illustrated)

T:6896, 9.4.06, Part 2
"Truly, I came down from Heaven, in an immense 'descent', to sacrifice My life for sinners, and to be the 'bridge' to glory.  Yet many people refuse to believe in Me.  Truly, whoever loves to do My Will shares the Good News with others.  Even Catholics need reminders about Me, and about the teachings and practices of the Church." (Illustrated)

T:6905, 13.4.06
"Here I am, in the sanctuary, in glory: your Lord and God, worthy of reverence and adoration.  On this holy night, as you celebrate the institution of the Sacred Priesthood and of the Holy Eucharist, it is only right for priests to prepare well for such a holy occasion.  Each priest must choose whom he will serve throughout his life: Myself or Satan.  There is no room for divided loyalties, nor for worldly thoughts, actions and attitudes."

T:6912, 15.4.06
"It pleases me tremendously to witness your devotion to My Mother under the title of 'Our Lady of Sorrows'. After My Crucifixion and Death, and after My descent to the Underworld, I appeared to My beloved Mother, radiant in My risen glory.  Her first instinct, which she acted upon, was to kneel and adore Me.  I admire her love for Me in My Divinity; and I delight in her love for Me in My humanity.  Yet My love for her in her suffering made Me reach out with both hands to raise her to her feet, so that I could hold her in My arms and comfort her." (Illustrated)

CHRIST AND THE SAINTS

The Lord taught me:

T:6786, 18.3.06
"I am deeply touched when someone makes efforts to show love for Me, by attending an extra Mass, and praying for people in need.  It is the most sacred act of worship that can be offered to the Father from on earth; and it gives Me joy to see your love, and to witness your desire to give glory to Heaven."

T:6821, 8.3.06
"Whenever you take the trouble to pray a 'Novena' - perhaps to your 'Mother of Perpetual Help' - you call down powerful help upon the needy, through My Mother's prayers." (Illustrated)

T:6824, 19.3.06
"My Mother Mary wants you to remember that she is your Mother, too.  When you ask for her prayers, ask with confidence.  She loves to help everyone; yet all faithful friends of Mine are her very own spiritual children; so you must be confident that when you ask her for extra help she gives it, joyfully.  She holds before Me, in prayer, everyone for whom you intercede.  And since she is a real Mother to you, you will benefit even more if you share your miseries and worries with her, ask her opinion about what troubles you, and rest in her presence." (Illustrated)

T:6859, 25.3.06
"I ask you all to remember that I am true man, as well as God.  If you keep that in mind, you might imagine what it is like for Me to have to witness various cruelties and offences today.  I am full of love for you; yet many people dismiss Me as of no importance; or if they believe in Me they begrudge serving Me.  They don't realise that I am at work to keep them from danger; and they grumble about My holy Church and criticise the Bishops I have chosen.  They pray insincere prayers; and their whole attitude is 'lukewarm'.  They resent My desire to make them holy."

T:6899, 11.4.06
"What the Church teaches is true, about My Mother Mary: that she deserves to receive honour and thanks from her 'children': from you who are My brothers and sisters.  Truly, she lives at the heart of the Holy Trinity, in Eternal Light, loved and held in bliss and glory, honoured for her faithfulness and love.  So it is entirely fitting, in My sight, that there should be a beautiful statue, or other image of My holy Mother, in every Catholic church."
